About remote billing staff

What is a remote medical billing team?

Dedicated billing and revenue cycle staff who work remotely in your systems, under your workflows. You direct the work; a staffing provider recruits, employs and supports the staff. How it works →

How is a staffing model different from outsourcing to a billing company?

A billing company usually takes over the billing function, often for a percentage of collections. With a staffing model you get dedicated people working your queues in your software, and you keep control of the process and payer relationships. Cost comparison →

What roles can remote staff cover?

Common roles include billing and claims specialists, A/R follow-up, denial follow-up, eligibility and benefits verification (VOB), prior authorization, payment posting, coding (with credentials), credentialing and admissions or intake support. RCM staffing guide →

Do you work with medical billing companies?

Yes. Billing companies often add dedicated remote staff as they take on new clients. Our approved vendor's clients include large billing companies that handle billing for multiple clients.

HIPAA and security

Is anyone 'HIPAA certified'?

No. There is no official HIPAA certification for companies or individuals. HHS's Office for Civil Rights does not endorse or certify vendors. Ask about specific safeguards instead: a BAA, MFA, secure remote access, role-based access, training and incident response. Source: HHS, cloud computing guidance. HIPAA guide →

Will the staffing provider sign a business associate agreement?

A provider whose staff will access protected health information on your behalf is generally a business associate, and a BAA should be signed before any access. Have your counsel review it. Alliance Global Solutions signs a business associate agreement (BAA) with each client before any of its staff access protected health information. Source: HHS, business associates.

Does the operator of this site sign a BAA?

Alliance Global Solutions signs a BAA before any PHI access.

Is offshore billing allowed under HIPAA?

HIPAA does not ban offshore work, but HHS notes that overseas arrangements can increase risk and raise enforceability questions. Address them in your risk analysis, and check payer and Medicaid contracts, some of which restrict offshore access.

Cost and results

How much does remote billing staff cost?

Pricing is usually per full-time staff member per month or per hour. Compare it with the fully loaded cost of a local hire and with billing company quotes using our cost worksheet. We don't publish generic price ranges. Cost worksheet →

Can you guarantee lower denials or fewer A/R days?

No. Results depend on your payers, specialty, documentation and processes. Anyone promising a specific reduction before reviewing your data should be asked how they can know that.

Getting started

What hours do remote staff work?

Schedules are agreed up front. Many teams overlap US business hours so they can call payers and handle same-day eligibility work.

How long does it take to get started?

It depends on role definition, candidate interviews, agreements and access setup. The assessment call will give you a realistic timeline for your situation. Request an assessment →

Can we start with one person?

Yes. Many practices start with one queue, such as eligibility or A/R follow-up, and expand once it runs smoothly.

Technology

AI and automation now show up across billing, from claim scrubbing to electronic prior authorization, which CMS-0057-F requires impacted payers to support through APIs by January 1, 2027 (CMS). Any tool vendor that handles PHI on your behalf is generally a business associate and needs a BAA (HHS). Alliance Global Solutions helps clients set up AI assistant workflows alongside their dedicated staff.
